Lena`s Cafe in Altoona

The food is good. I think pretty much everything is homemade. Our waitress was really helpful and nice. Prices are fair. Recommend giving it a try if you're in the area!

We are not from the area, but were told to eat here. We pulled in the parking lot, and wondered if we had the right place. Don't let the old school look fool you....this place is spectacular!! Food and service were out of this world!

I had a hot roast beef sandwich which was the daily special. It was pretty good, hot and fresh. The only complaint i have about it was the roast beef had a little more fat in it then i would have liked and the portion of actual meat was very small. The Italian wedding soup was excellent and the service was great. The menu looked to be mostly Italian specialties with standard entre salads and sandwiches. Prices were good as well. I will definitely return.

Stuffed shells and chocolate peanut butter lasagna were amazing!

U can always count on a good meal

Lena's is a friendly, warm and comfortable restaurant. The food is delicious and portions are plentiful, but not overwhelming. The "family touch" is evident and you can see that the patrons of the restaurant are enjoying being together and being at Lena's. I 1st dined at Lena's in the mid-1980's as the result of a recommendation from a co-worker. Anytime I am in the Altoona area, I try to have lunch or dinner at Lena's. The decor reflects an earlier time and place, and adds to the overall warmth of the restaurant. Enjoy!!!

Great food and wonderful waitstaff.

Fairly mediocre experience. Even though what I ordered had appeared to be homemade, it was the kind of homemade that you dont really care for. I had ordered the Homemade Noodles.Everything was pretty bland, especially the sauce. It didnt seem like there were any seasonings in it at all, so I couldnt taste the sauce one bit.The prices on the menu were rather absurd for the quality of it as well.If you want to go just for the sheer pleasure of saying that you've gone, then do it. Otherwise, I don't really reccomend this place if you like food with actual flavour.

Great service great Italian food

Hands down, this is the best restaurant in Altoona for a good Italian dinner. My personal favorite is their Eggplant Parm with marinara sauce and “homemade” pasta. We visit Lenas at least twice a month. The atmosphere is pleasant but decor is plain and boring. The staff is very attentive and accommodating...especially Debbie!❤️

Good old homemade Italian food, reminds me of my Grandma's Sun dinners!

The food is amazing. Their specialty is Italian food and it is all home made. The sauce is excellent. They have other things on the menu but if you are looking for Italian Lena's is the place.

Heads up. Just bought 4 meatballs and it cost me $12.61. For four lousy meatballs. The prices have gone up and the quality of the food has gone sharply down. If the original owners would see how this place is ran now they would roll out of their grave. Sad. Oh and now they don't even give you bread. Before they used to give you bread. Now they don't. Cheap. Low quality and high prices. That's what you get at Lena's Cafe.

SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS PERFECT!!!!! SALAD EXCELLENT.THERE WASN"T ALOT OF LETTUCE WHICH MADE IT GOOD!! RAVOLI HAD REAL RICOTTA CHEESE!!!!

Wasnt happy about our waitress ut otherwise I loved the food. We have been there plenty of times. Bring a sweater if U are a cooler person like me.

Honestly, it's not bad! I walked in and was greeted with friendly service and a nice environment. The menu was short but simple, ranging from a variety of foods but still holding true to its main title, Italian food. The wait time could use a bit of an improvemnt but I'll be a monkey's uncle if the wait wasn't worth it. The portions were big enough to get you full but small enough to not over stuff you. The overall taste of the food was good but not all too flavorful sadly. Needless to say it was good but not amazing, just a little fun place to go if you want a good Italian dinner or lunch.

Today May 10th. Was just at this restaurant with my staff for what I thought would be a nice lunch. We sat down and the waitress took our drink orders. She came back to the table and dropped the entire drink order all over 3 of us. Chocolate milk everywhere.All over one persons white pants. The waitress just walked away. Did NOT say anything. Not even sorry. Needless to say we left. Some type of apology would have gone a long way.

Very home oriented, Pleasant waitresses,excellent food.

So disappointed. The sauce needed to cook slower and longer. The meatballs were not good at all. Try cooking them in the sauce for added flavor for both.

Lena's Café is an iconic staple in our community have been here for 50+ years, the food is wonderful great prices, I'd recommend the stuff rigatoni or the breaded veal if you like veal not a big fan of veal but delicious to my wife. Great staff, nice clean atmosphere.

Homemade noodles and meatballs were great.

This place is the best Italian restaurant in Altoona. Their meatballs and sauce are to die for. Friendly and attentive staff. Clean and family friendly prices. Located downtown close to Boyers and a just a couple minutes off of Interstate 99 and Boscovs.

They specialize in Italian cuisine and there food was delicious. Served with a basket of sliced Italian bread. I recommend eating there.

We missed you when you were closed. Glad your back wish we could come in great atmosphere.

Best Italian food in Altoona. Love the salads, the generous bread and butter, and their sauce and meatballs over homemade whole wheat noodles is delicious. Also try the stuffed shells, my daughter loves their eggplant parmesan. Cozy atmosphere and reasonably priced.

First visit, and was highly impressed!! My husband and I couldn't decide what we wanted, so we got 3 meals to share and they were all delicious! Cant wait to come back again! :)
